The story of Cantine Villa Dora begins in Terzigno (Naples) in 1997 with the desire of Vincenzo Ambrosio, who inherited his boundless passion for the Vesuvius territory from his grandfather, to guide the viticultural production of Vesuvius towards the highest quality standards. All the vineyards, strictly planted with ungrafted vines (piede franco), mostly using the ancient “pergola vesuviana” method and with an average age of about 70 years, were immediately adapted to a very high level of production, with low yields and meticulous care. The primary goal of Villa Dora was to elevate Vesuvius wines to the quality level that their complex soils and millennial history deserved. With the vintage of 2001, Villa Dora started something that had never been seen on Vesuvius before: with the help of the winemaker Roberto Cipresso, the company shifted its focus towards a philosophy that was very rare in Campania at that time: producing only aging wines, both whites and reds, which would be released on the market 2-3 years after the harvest.
